POSITRON ANNIHILATION LIFETIME STUDIES OF SOME POLYMER ELECTROLYTES | By Dr. Bidyut Haldar
This book “Positron annihilation lifetime studies of Polymer electrolytes” has been written with the intent to introduce the topic of Positron spectroscopy as a very effective nuclear technique for studying condensed matter. The book mainly target postgraduate and undergraduate students who want to go for experimental condensed matter physics. From this book they will be able to get themselves acquainted with this technique which is a very powerful tool for experimental studies of condensed matter. First two chapters of this book mainly introduce the concept and the technique that is used for measuring the lifetime of positrons in matter. In the rest of the book, the technique of positron lifetime spectroscopy has been applied for the study of free volume, size and distribution, their temperature dependence and its relation to electrical conductivity in some specific polymer electrolytes. However this technique along with the other available positron spectroscopic techniques can also be used for studying defects, its chemical nature, free electron density etc. in metals and alloys and study of free volume in polymers,. Recently it is also used for studying defect induced ferromagnetism in the nano-crystalline state.
